One of the world’s first ever rapid-charging parks was opened in August 2019: the DC Premium Charging Park at the Porsche Centre Zug is a key milestone along the way to fitting all Porsche Centres with high-performance charging facilities. High-speed charging The automotive world is now entirely occupied with electromobility – and the Taycan will set new standards here. The DC Premium charging station was developed by Porsche Engineering GmbH to meet high customer demands regarding charging times. It enables peak charging times of five minutes for a range of 100 kilometres. Given the right conditions, 80 percent of the Taycan's battery capacity can be charged in just under 23 minutes. These peak figures are made technically possible by means of the 800-volt DC (direct current) charger: the vehicle is fed the maximum possible current. Unlike AC charging, conversion from AC to DC in the vehicle is not necessary, enabling significantly higher charging capacities. Two charging points are available in Zug, each with a charging capacity of up to 350 kW. In addition, preparations have already been made to add another two or more charging points if required. Ready for charging in Rotkreuz The planning phase began in February 2017, and the decision step was taken in April 2019 when the building permit was issued. Construction began shortly afterwards and the DC Premium Charging Park was able to go into operation at the end of August. Yves Becker-Fahr, Managing Director of the Porsche Centre Zug: «We’re very proud to have completed the first Porsche DC Charging Park here in Switzerland and to have it ready for use».
